HEATING UP IN THE MICROWAVE

Getting foods to steam without losing moisture is the trick to great microwaving!

• Place your meal onto the plate or bowl you will use

Ceramic is perfect - it helps distribute heat evenly from underneath

• Add a tablespoon of water to the food or into the plate/bowl

Consider adding sauces halfway through heating so you aren’t steaming off too much liquid

• Cover with a microwave-safe lid or a nicely damp paper towel

Do not totally seal your food - the pressure can build up to messy levels

• Heat on low or medium power. For 2-3 minutes in most cases.

High power can force steam from food too quickly and leave items dry

HEATING UP ON THE STOVE?

If you’re heating meal preps on a stove, it’s easy. Add a tiny bit of water, keep them covered, on low heat and give everything a stir or two. In 4-6 minutes your food is good to go. Hold sauces until the last 2 min.

Keep Meals Fresh

The moisture in food is what makes for fresh flavors and easy heating. A fridge is very dry and tends to draw moisture from foods. To keep meals for more than a few days, consider wrapping each in cling-wrap and storing in a drawer of your fridge where humidity is higher.
